Bus Operator Account Management = BOAM
The Department for Transport (DFT) has made it a priority to encourage sustainable local travel and economic growth by making public transport more attractive and effective, promoting lower carbon transport and tackling local road congestion.
Buses have a key role to play in meeting this challenge as they are the most used form of public transport. Since punctuality is invariably sited as the most important issue for passengers, delivering high punctuality levels is essential to keeping existing
passengers and attracting new ones.
The key to delivering high standards of punctuality is partnership working and good relationships, primarily between operators and local authorities but also with other interested parties (DMTC). Ministers are very keen to promote partnership working.
To facilitate partnerships DFT developed with representatives from local government, the bus industry, passenger groups and enforcement bodies, a set of shared punctuality partnership principles and supporting guidance. To support this approach, the
bus punctuality work that DVSA undertakes will focus on encouraging partnerships and checking that the right operating systems are in place, whilst ensuring that the Traffic Commissioners can take effective enforcement action when appropriate.
How can DMTC help you achieve everything the DFT, the Traffic Commissioner and the DVSA desire. They talk about operator systems being in place. I can assist to ensure your systems are in place and up to date up to DVSA standards or above.
They also say they can take effective enforcement action when appropriate. I can also help you with bus compliance, monitoring, making recommendations and offering advice.
