BSOG
BSOG = Bus Service Operators Grant
These measures will give local authorities more control over how money is best spent and help to make bus subsidy more targeted and accountable, therefore providing better value for passenger and taxpayer.
These reforms have now taken place and operators have seen a reduction in their subsidies. This is partly due to the price drop in fuel and the way the Local Authority are distributing the grant.
As former BOAM / BSOG Examiners and Bus Compliance Officers in the DVSA, part of that role was to audit the methods of obtaining the figures submitted on the claims by operators. DMTC can also do that role and advise on the best and most simple way of achieving those figures. Checking of accounting, distances and fuel systems.
Bus Compliance
The monitoring of busses on service routes con be done from the side of the road or by riding the bus. It is done to ensure the bus is on time or within the time limits permitted. It can also monitor the drivers ability, behavior, attitude and honesty. The passengers behavior towards other passengers and for criminal damage.
DMTC can undertake such work but it must be remembered that DMTC are not the Police and the passenger safety remains that of the driver.
